"She thinks stapling a live barracuda to someone's face isn't damn good entertainment!"
"A crime scene analyst who works for the Gotham City Police Department and often presents his information in riddles. After his accidental killing of his crush's abusive boyfriend, he starts a downward spiral that involves him killing his girlfriend, framing Gordon for it and eventually becoming the full-fledged Riddler."(tvtropes.org. i'll write my own someday.)
I had resisted watching The Batman (2022) for about a year after it came out. This was, of course, because I didn't want to get caught up in "Riddler mania," a TikTok phenomenon that I had no desire to participate in. But eventually, I got curious and gave in. And I liked it. A lot. And, as I was afraid of, I too became a fan of Paul Dano's Riddler.
At this point, I went on a search for more Riddlers, which led me to recommendations of Fox's Gotham, a 2014 show focused on Detective Jim Gordon. On April 24th, 2023, I decided to check it out and see how it was.
Though I found him intriguing from the beginning, the moment that really endeared me to Edward was in episode 6, when he harasses his coworker, Detective Harvey Bullock, into solving his riddle while the latter is trying to investigate a crime scene (I've linked a video of the interaction below!). From then on, I got very attached to him, to the point where half the reason I was watching the show was to see him.
It's hard to pinpoint why I love him as much as I do, but, well, I do. I'll probably add more to this page in the future, maybe even make it some sort of web shrine, but for now I'll leave it there. Basically, to sum it up, I like him a little bit.
